Shana Neal serves as executive vice president and chief people officer. Neal is a veteran executive who specializes in leading organizational growth and transformation, and is responsible for leading the human resources, communications and social investing functions. She is also a member of the BD Executive Leadership Team.
Neal previously served as chief human resources officer of Owens & Minor, a global healthcare solutions company that provides integrated technology, products and services across the continuum of care, leading all aspects of human resources as well as serving as President of the Owens & Minor Foundation and executive sponsor for ESG. A champion for authentic leadership, Neal joined Owens & Minor to integrate a series of acquisitions made by the company, build a transformational human resources organization and lead in the effort to transform Owens & Minor into a global organization.
Prior to joining Owens & Minor, Neal served as senior vice president, human resources for BD where she helped lead the two largest acquisitions in the company’s history and was accountable for developing the talent, culture and organizational design of the expanded organization to advance its strategy and impact.
Neal holds an M.A. in Human Resources Development from Clemson University and completed Columbia University’s Executive Education Program in Strategic Impact. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Virginia Health Information.
